Rishi Sunak accuses Liz Truss of avoiding scrutiny - The Times

Liz Truss has cancelled a set-piece interview with Nick Robinson on BBC1, leading to accusations from Rishi Sunak that she is “avoiding scrutiny”.

Robinson, a former BBC political editor and one of its most experienced interviewers, had been due to talk to the Conservative leadership favourite at 7pm tonight after he questioned her rival three weeks ago.

But at the last minute Truss cancelled the appearance because she could “no longer spare the time”. Robinson said that he was “disappointed” and “frustrated”.

It is the second time that the foreign secretary has avoided an interview with a veteran broadcaster after she refused to speak to Andrew Neil earlier in the contest. The broadcaster recorded a 30-minute interview with Sunak and ended it with a challenge
