Sunak, in his final answer to Starmer, insists the government is delivering on the public's priorities.

He launches a broad attack on Starmer's time as Labour leader, accusing him of breaking promises during his leadership campaign to nationalise public services, and of "saying anything if the politics suits him".

He says this shows the commitment of Starmer, a Remainer at the Brexit referendum, to the "free movement of principles".

Liz Truss has cancelled a set-piece interview with Nick Robinson on BBC1, leading to accusations from Rishi Sunak that she is “avoiding scrutiny”. Robinson, a former BBC political editor and one of its most experienced interviewers, had been due to talk to the Conservative leadership favourite at 7pm tonight after he questioned her rival three weeks ago. But at the last minute Truss cancelled the appearance because she could “no longer spare the time”. Robinson said that he was “disappointed” and “frustrated”. A 35-foot humpback whale has washed ashore and died on a New York beach By The Associated Press January 30, 2023, 7:59 PM LIDO BEACH, N.Y. -- A 35-foot (11-meter) humpback whale washed ashore and later died on a New York beach, one of several cetaceans discovered over the past two months along the shores of New York and New Jersey. The whale was discovered Monday morning at Lido Beach West Town Park on Long Island. Officials said it was still alive when found but died a short time later, according to news outlets. Crews used a crane to pull the animal from the water so it would not be washed back out to sea. Researchers hope to perform a necropsy to better understand what might have caused the whale to beach itself. The animal showed no obvious signs of trauma.
